This collection will be presented through a short film inspired by the complexity of human relationships and the Latin migration experience, specifically Chilean migration. The story focuses on two sisters sharing their intimacy on the eve of a journey that will mark a before and after. One of them will leave, and in that minimal yet transcendent gesture, an emotional universe is revealed: detachment, love, grief, and the silent strength of the fraternal bond.
The story is built from what is manual, intimate, and symbolic. As they live together, the sisters sew, unsew, and adapt garments—intervening in their own clothes to make them more personal, more comfortable, more lived-in. In parallel, they create together a handcrafted piece made from my grandfather’s collection of matchboxes. This work—which takes shape progressively as the story unfolds—represents the fire of memory, the shared remembrance, the inheritance that burns without being consumed.
The short film will be interwoven with verses by Gabriela Mistral, whose words resonate with unique strength when speaking of migration, femininity, memory, and uprooting. Her poetic voice will accompany the narrative as a third feminine presence—ancestral, loving, and deeply moving.
